Remembering Michael Leunig

I first met Michael circa 2024. We had a long conversation at a cafe in The Rocks, Sydney. We talked about life, art and a myriad of other subjects. Some time later he sent me an email asking if I would be interested in selling some of his artworks that he felt comfortable to send out into the world. I was elated to do so.

Michael was wonderful to talk to. He very rarely, if ever, resorted to cliche in conversation. He thought carefully and deeply about what he was trying to say. This care with words was evident in his prose and poetry, and corresponded to his wonderful use of ‘the line’ in his art.

I miss him. I’m honoured to have his art in my home, and to have had the opportunity to help bring it into the lives of others as well.
